Looking For New Conference Call Providers

When looking for conference call providers, don't just choose the first one that you run across. There are a lot of things you should look at before making your choice in order to get the most out of your conference calls for the best price. Keep in mind that not all providers are the same.

Before you even begin to look for a conference call service, you should know your own needs. Ask yourself the following questions:

Do you need just basic conference calling where everyone listens to one another over the phone, or do you need video conferencing capabilities?

Is web conferencing a consideration?

Will you need data transfer capabilities during your conference calls?

These are all considerations that you will need to be aware of before you start to shop for conference call providers.

Another consideration is how often will you need to use the conference calling. Some providers charge a monthly fee on top of their calling fees per minute.

Typically, conference call providers offer lower per minute rates if you pay a monthly fee, but if you only need one teleconference per month then you probably won't want to pay a monthly fee for that one call.

Get records over the past six months to a year and get an average of not only how many conference calls were made, but also an average of how much you or your company paid for each call. This will give you a basis for comparing the different conference call service providers.

Perhaps you are looking to switch to a new conference call service. So why are you changing providers? Is it because of the price? Perhaps you have been getting poor quality during your conference calls. Do you need to enable more people to join in on your calls? These are all things that you should look for when shopping for a new provider, but focus on the reason you are changing in the first place.

If quality is an issue, you can not really judge conference call providers by their websites or by calling them on the phone. They are all going to tell you that they have the best conference call quality. How can you know for sure?

Find the service providers that look interesting and give each one a call. Ask for a free demonstration for your next conference call. If you explain to them that you are looking for a new provider because your call quality was not up to par with the last provider, they should be happy to accommodate. If a call provider won't give you a free demo call, then this should tell you that the company isn't confident in the quality of their calls and you should move on to the next provider.

Take your time when choosing from among the different teleconference companies. They all have different pricing, features and benefits for you to consider. Find one that you will be happy with overall, not just because of one thing like the price. You will be using conference calls to run your business and this is not something that should be taken lightly. The best provider is not always the cheapest.
